Beauty Talk: Contour & Highlight

It's no secret that I love to contour and highlight, whether its for a light day look or full on glam at night.  There's nothing wrong with giving your cheekbones a bit more pop.  When I met my make up artist, Bria Valencia, her amazing work consisted of some of the best contouring and highlighting I have ever seen.  I immediately knew she had to do my make up!  It does take a bit of practice to achieve the perfect balance, but once you get the hang of it, you will wonder why you have never done it before!

Under eye concealer is one of my best friends.  I love the way it makes your eyes pop and look so fresh.  After applying my Kiehl's moisturizer, I start by applying Bobbi Brown's corrector in Bisque.  This is not a concealer.  What this does is pretty much counteract with the color you have underneath your eye, and gives you a neutral palette to start applying your concealer.  For a night look, I then apply MAC's Studio Sculpt Concealer in NW20 (I like to use a color that is at least 2 shades lighter than my skin tone).  I blend it out using a Beauty Blender.  I then apply Make Up Forever's Lift Concealer in #1 on top, which is a liquid formula.  I like to use a cream based concealer first then a liquid on top.  I use my Beauty Blender again to blend and I set it with MAC's Mineralize Loose Powder in Light Plus.  I like to use a colored powder to set my concealer, so it gives my eyes a bit more brightness, but you can definitely use a translucent powder.  Again, this is a night look.  If I was going out for the day, I only use the Lift Concealer, and set it with a translucent powder for a lighter look.  I am obsessed with Smashbox's Matte Bronzer in Suntan.  It is the perfect bronzer to contour with because it is matte.  I find using a shimmer based bronzer makes you have that "dirty" look to your face.

Below are all the additional areas you should highlight and contour and a before and after picture of Kim K's contouring and highlighting.  I have literally tried dozens of products to find the perfect combination and I love all the products above!
